Job Summary:

The Plumbing Installer is responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and appliances, ensuring they meet all safety and quality standards. This position requires strong technical knowledge of plumbing codes, tools, and equipment, as well as the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation of Plumbing Systems: Install pipes, fixtures, water heaters, pumps, and other plumbing systems in accordance with local plumbing codes and safety standards.
• Pipe Laying: Cut, thread, and install pipes made of various materials, including copper, PVC, steel, and more.
• System Testing: Perform pressure tests to ensure that all plumbing systems are functioning correctly and leak-free.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand the plumbing layout and determine the materials needed.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve plumbing issues, such as leaks, clogs, and malfunctions in existing systems.
• Fixture Installation: Install and connect various plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers, dishwashers, and washing machines.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all plumbing installations comply with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental laws.
• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean tools and equipment to ensure their proper functioning.
• Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their plumbing needs and provide guidance on system maintenance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other tradespeople (e.g., electricians, carpenters) to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
• Documentation: Keep accurate records of materials used, work completed, and inspections passed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training in plumbing or completion of an apprenticeship program is preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience as a plumbing installer, apprentice, or in a related trade is typically required.
• Licensing: A valid plumbing license (where required by law) and knowledge of local plumbing codes.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using plumbing tools such as wrenches, pipe benders, and soldering irons.
• Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify issues, think critically, and apply solutions quickly.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and handle manual labor.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills to work with clients and team members.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with advanced plumbing systems (e.g., gas lines, water filtration systems, or fire sprinklers).
• Knowledge of environmentally friendly plumbing solutions (e.g., water conservation or energy-efficient systems).
• Ability to train or mentor apprentices.

Physical Work Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear, stand, move, operate with hands and arms, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• The employee is regularly required to use hands to operate or feel objects, tools or controls, communicate, distinguish or identify, adjust or focus.
• Activities involving being around moving parts and equipment, exposure to changes in temperature and humidity as well as dust, fumes, electricity, gases and moderate noise.
